Graduation
6 May
I’ve worked so hard to get to this point and in the end it all paid off. Weeks of late nights painting, drawing, writing, and printing led to me graduating with honors and a solid body of work! My senior show was a success, the takeaway stickers I left out were gone in under an hour and I had to refill my business cards twice! My show even got mentioned in Stellafly’s article about Kendall College: http://www.stellaflysocialmedia.com/kendall-college-of-art-and-design-unveils-the-historic-federal-building-and-reveals-its-pathway-to-excellence-for-art-students/

It was a great experience learning how to hang my own show. The purple background I picked popped and people could see it from far away. Purple has definitely been a theme in my work this year.

Many of my family and friends were able to make it up and I was really grateful. There’s me with my mom and dad who got me through college!
My good friend Eric from back home was a walking advertisement for me that night! I think he’d be a great addition to the Sucrose Boys.
One of my best friends whom I’ve known since the 3rd grade, Anastasiya, or Stacy for short was there to support me. She’s been a huge inspiration in my life and has helped me become the creative person that I am today. Nobody has a mind like Stacy’s and we’ve always supported each other in our art and life. I know she’s going to do well in whatever she decides to pursue.
Chelsea who is another one of my closest and best friends was there to see my show. We’ve bonded since the 7th grade over nerdy things and making movies. I used to do all of my high school art projects at her house! Her house was like my second home and if ever I needed to chill she was there. Oh and also in this photo is her brother Kyle! He’s cool too haha.
There are so many others who came out to see my work but I don’t wan’t to make this post too long! I just want to say thank you everybody for caring about what I do.
Here are some business cards from other great artists that I picked up at the show, the graduating class this year was so talented.

It was surreal on the big graduation day seeing all of my teachers and classmates dressed up like a bunch of scholars from the Renaissance. The bells of Fountain Street Church where the ceremony took place were gonging for us as we paraded through the windy streets. Fountain Street Church was originally built by Baptists but is now Unitarian. The building is gorgeous and decked out in Byzantine style mosaics. Here are a few pictures of it:

My image as I walked across the stage to receive my diploma.
Happy chaos after the ceremony!

Special thanks to my boyfriend Josh who built so many wonderful things to help me out and got me through the stressful times. We make quite the couple.

So what’s next for me? Well currently I am in a show in Barre Vermont called “Sweet”. Perfect for my work. The Studio Place Arts people were kind enough to send me a print out of their local newspaper which used my image to promote the event!

They also sent me the promotional postcard for the show:

Soon I will be entering the Muskegon Museum of Art Annual Show and the Festival Regional Arts Competition in Grand Rapids! Wish me luck! In the meantime I will continue designing posters for my local Dr. Sketchy’s, work on expanding my Glucose Girl’s brand, and commissions. Look out for some of my products soon!
Keep it sweet!
